RFI: Switzerland will stage a conference on Ukraine this coming weekend, with world leaders set to discuss how to reach an eventual peace process. The gathering comes immediately after the G7 summit in southern Italy, running from Thursday to Saturday.
Reuters: Putin will visit North Korea and Vietnam in the coming weeks, the Vedomosti newspaper reported on Monday, citing a diplomatic source.
ISW: The Biden administration’s limited policy change permitting Ukraine to use US-provided weapons to strike some Russian military targets in a small area within Russian territory has reduced the size of Russia’s ground sanctuary by only 16 percent at maximum.

Reuters: Ukrainian forces have for the first time hit a latest-generation Russian Sukhoi Su-57 fighter jet at an air base inside Russia, Kyiv's defence intelligence agency said on Sunday, showing satellite pictures which it said confirmed the strike.
POLITICO: Days after President Joe Biden apologized to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the delay in U.S. funding to Kyiv, Sen. Lindsey Graham said Sunday he is pushing for the seizure of Russian assets to provide additional aid to Ukraine.
Reuters: Russian forces appear to be making headway towards their longstanding goal of capturing the strategic Ukrainian town of Chasiv Yar, according to reports on Sunday from both sides of the more than two-year-old war.
The Kyiv Independent: The Ukrainian military will start testing domestically produced guided aerial bombs in just a few weeks, Serhii Holubtsov, a top officer at the Air Force Command, told Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty in a June 9 interview.

Reuters: U.S. officials expect the Group of Seven wealthy democracies to send a tough new warning next week to smaller Chinese banks to stop assisting Russia in evading Western sanctions.
Bloomberg: The Kremlin has forced thousands of migrants and foreign students to fight alongside Russian troops in its war against Ukraine, adding extra manpower for its offensive in the Kharkiv region, according to assessments from European officials (archive).

The Kyiv Independent: A collaborant from Kharkiv Oblast is in "critical condition" after an assassination attempt in Russia, Ukraine's military intelligence agency claimed on June 8.
RBC-Ukraine: Russia moved Kadyrov's men to the north of the Kharkiv region. There, they formed barrier detachments to prevent other troops from fleeing the battlefield, reports Nazar Voloshyn, spokesperson for the Khortytsia operational and strategic grouping of troops.
AFP: Russian shelling and aerial attacks killed two people in southern and northeastern Ukraine Saturday, authorities said, a day after the United Nations warned monthly civilian casualties had reached near-year highs.
POLITICO: President Joe Biden and French President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday projected political solidarity on the wars in Ukraine and Israel, amid persistent strain on the international community’s approach to both conflicts.

Reuters: The United States may have to deploy more strategic nuclear weapons in coming years to deter growing threats from Russia, China and other adversaries, a senior White House aide said on Friday.
Bloomberg: French President Emmanuel Macron said he aims to put together a coalition in the coming days to send military instructors to Ukraine as Kyiv needs to train tens of thousands of new soldiers to repel Russia’s invasion (archive).
ERR: Third-country nationals will not be able to buy land or property near places of strategic importance in the future under new rules proposed by the Ministry of Interior. The move is largely aimed at Russian and Belarusian citizens.
Reuters: The Dutch government will invest 400 million euros in the production of combat vehicles for Ukraine, it said on Friday. Reuters: Ukraine and Moldova meet all the criteria needed to formally start negotiations on EU membership, the European Commission said on Friday, as Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal expressed hope that the talks could start later this month.

The Japan News: Several North Korean oil tankers that allegedly violated U.N. Security Council resolutions visited a far eastern Russia port in early April and were apparently loaded with refined petroleum products that were shipped back to North Korea, The Yomiuri Shimbun has learned.
